PF Reading group to discuss The Great Santini
The reading group will meet on Tuesday, July 1st at 7pm at the clubhouse. Members will be discussing The Great Santini by Pat Conroy. Bring whatever you would like to drink.
The next month's meeting will be Tuesday, August 5th at the clubhouse, at 7pm, and will feature Made in America by Bill Bryson. Subtitled An Informal History of the English Language in the United States, this is a fun look at where our words come from. As he says in the introduction, you might wonder what Mrs. Stuyvesant Fish running over her servant three times in succession with her car has to do with the history and development of the English language in the U.S. With this book, we might get some answers.

PF to host rest stop for 2nd Annual Tour d'Apple
The 2nd Annual Tour d'Apple is scheduled to ride past the Pinnacle Falls entrance again this year on Labor Day. Details are forthcoming, but the Tour is scheduled for Monday, September 1. A few volunteers will be needed to help man the water and refreshments tent, as well as food donations. Volunteers should contact Yvette Freeman at [email protected].
Last year, more than 65 cyclists stopped by our rest area for apple slices, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, bananas, gatorade, water, cookies, and refreshments. According to Dick Miley, a member of the Four Seasons Rotary Club, which coordinates the Tour, "...the sixty-six cyclists who braved the climb up Cabin Creek Road (after 4 previous mountain climbs) last year found your rest stop to be the friendliest and most welcome on the Tour." |
